Education
The Council promotes educational improvement by encouraging its members to receive nationally recognized designations for remodeling. The CGR designation (Certified Graduate Remodelor) is designed to increase remodelors’ professional credibility by identifying those who demonstrate exceptional business integrity, competence, and a solid track record of consumer satisfaction. The CAPS designation (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) is a great marketing and customer service tool to gain access into the increasing aging-in-place market and provides remodelors with technical knowledge to solve the remodeling needs of the aging-in-place population.

Monthly Meetings
In addition, the Council also offers its members monthly meetings on topics related to strengthening their businesses. The 2006 topics include Lien Law, Workers Compensation, Owners Compensation and Markup, Hiring Practices – Recruitment and Retention, Risk Transfer and Subcontractor Agreements. The meetings provide a forum for CBIA members to network with each other and also enjoy great food. There are opportunities for CBIA members to sponsor an evening meeting which entitles them to a 15-minute presentation about their services and/or products before the featured speakers. Cost to become a sponsor of the Remodelors Council is $750. Sponsorship also means the company’s logo will appear on all related fliers and in the monthly publication Business Builder. This is a great opportunity and the calendar fills up quickly with sponsors in the beginning of the year.

Social Events
The Remodelers Council participates in a number of social events throughout the year.  In the spring, we have our Minnesota Twins baseball outing.  We sponsor the Youth Haven to enjoy fun in the sun with us while we picnic and watch baseball.  We have our beach party which takes place at Lowdermilk Park in the summer.  We close out the year with our holiday party that is always a highlights with its Motown music that gets everyone out on the dance floor!

Community Outreach
The Remodelers Council has been very active in community outreach.  They recently renovated a deck for a local family in need.  A major renovation project was taken on by the Remodelers Council which entailed a complete remodeling of a condo for Mr. Dan Davison.  Mr Davison is a quadramputee with limited funds whose condo was in desperate need of a complete makeover in order for it to be functional and meet his special requirements.  Tom Lykos, CGR, CAPS of the Lykos Group and Chairman of the Remodelers Council, tok charge of this project and put together a tream of fellow remodelors, associates and volunteers and set forth to remodel Mr. Davison's condo.  The large number of CBIA/RMC member provided not only their time, but recruited additional volunteers to assist in all aspects of completing this project.  CBIA and RMC members contributed a considerable amount of their resources, material and money to make the remodel project successful.  Last year, the council joined together and completed the remodeling of the Immokalee Friendship House.
