STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (SHIP)
The Collier County Department of Housing, Human and Veteran Services (HHVS) is pleased to be offering a second mortgage program under the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) which provides down payment and closing costs assistance to enable eligible families in unincorporated Collier County, the City of Naples, the City of Marco Island or Everglades City to become homeowners. All assistance provided will be secured by a second mortgage on the property being purchased. Funds will be reserved on a first come, first ready basis to eligible applicants who received firm mortgage commitments from local lenders. This program is for the purchase of existing and newly constructed homes. A unit which has obtained a Certificate of Occupancy and has not been occupied in the last 12 months of construction will be considered new construction.

FLORIDA PRODUCT APPROVALS AND NOA’S
PURPOSE - A directive to inform and help the applicant understand what policy is followed for the review of Florida Product Approvals and NOA’s.
REFERENCE - 2010 Florida Building Code Sections 1609, 1714 and the Florida Administrative Code Section 9B-72.
POLICY – When submitting Florida Product Approvals and NOA’s the plans examiners and inspectors will review the following information:
• Version of the Florida Building Code: the document shall be approved under the version of the code that your building permit has been submitted
• Quality Assurance / Expiration Date: the documents submitted must be current, in other words make sure the products have not expired prior submitting for application.
• Identify the product that you are using: many products have multiple options listed under the same approval; these products have different characteristics such as impact/non-impact, design pressures, etc. Due to licensing limitations the plans examiners is not able to make that decision for you.
• Ensure that the product has been approved: for product approvals the State may list the product on the web site even when the product is in apply status, make sure that the product has been approved before submitting your application.
• Installation instructions: ensure that the installation instructions are suited for the supporting elements that are part of the building. For example, a window that has been approved for concrete masonry unit or concrete installation shall not be used for a wood framed structure. Copy of the installation instructions must be provided.
• Follow design professional specifications: if the design professional has defined a specific product, then the product approvals/NOA must match the specifications provided.
