With the upcoming elections slated for August 14, 2012 (Primary Election) and November 11, 2012 (General Election), I hope each of our member companies will take the opportunity to encourage employees to vote. 

 

The Collier County Supervisor of Elections website (www.colliervotes.com) provides great information about registering to vote, how to obtain absentee ballots and bios on all local candidates. Please share the website address and the importance of voting with your employees through your respective internal communications. 

 

In Collier County, there are three commission seats up for election. CBIA is in the process of finalizing commission candidate surveys which should be ready for distribution in the next couple of weeks. The responses will then be forwarded to all members for review in June to correlate with "Politics in the Park."

 

Politics in the Park will take place on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. This year the event will be held at St. John the Evangelist Life Center in Naples.  

This is a great venue for those of us in the construction industry to interact one-on-one with candidates to determine how their views and strengths match the needs of our industry and overall economic improvement in Collier County. 

 

Together, through our focus on the upcoming election and the sharing importance of voting, we can ensure that Collier County emerges at a great place to do business.
